Job Description

Senior Architect

Location: St. Louis, Missouri (Remote)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Architect with a background in healthcare provider technologies to lead a major application modernization and migration initiative. This program focuses on upgrading the technical stack, including operating systems, middleware, and databases, while modernizing applications and enabling cloud adoption. The ideal candidate will define modernization strategies, evaluate application readiness, and guide teams through implementation, ensuring compliance with healthcare security, privacy, and interoperability standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead architecture planning and modernization efforts across clinical and business applications within the healthcare provider ecosystem.
  • Assess current-state application portfolios and develop upgrade roadmaps for operating systems, databases, and middleware platforms.
  • Design and oversee end-to-end migration strategies for applications moving to new data centers and cloud environments (IaaS/PaaS).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Infrastructure, Integration, Security, and Clinical IT.
  • Define and implement cloud migration approaches such as lift-and-shift, replatforming, and application refactoring.
  • Establish modernization, integration, resiliency, and high-availability architecture standards.
  • Ensure all solution architectures comply with healthcare regulations and industry standards, including HIPAA and HITRUST.
  • Provide hands-on architectural leadership, governance, and technical guidance throughout the migration lifecycle.
  • Support risk management, business continuity, and disaster recovery planning during transition activities.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and liaison between technical teams, business leaders, and clinical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications

An Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is required. Candidates must have a minimum of 7 years of IT architecture experience, with at least 3 years supporting healthcare provider organizations. This role requires demonstrated experience in modernizing legacy applications and leading large-scale migrations to cloud platforms or new data centers. A strong understanding of infrastructure technologies, including servers, networking, storage, virtualization, and operating system upgrades is necessary. The position also requires proven ability to lead technical initiatives and manage stakeholder relationships, along with communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing and implementing hybrid cloud strategies and legacy-to-modern application transformation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including cloud-native architecture principles.
  • Understanding of healthcare security, compliance, and data privacy requirements, including HIPAA and HITRUST frameworks.
  • Professional certifications such as TOGAF, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare interoperability and integration standards, including HL7 and FHIR, and the supporting infrastructure.
We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome applications from all qualified candidates regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
